Back to Back Passover Seders

Monday, April 9th, 2012

With two young children in tow and a husband whose biggest contribution (of his own admission) was “I peeled the apples, because shelling the eggs was too frustrating”, Holly pulled off back-to-back Seders at our house this year on Friday and Saturday nights. In true Holly fashion, she delivered two creative, custom-designed events perfect for kids (aged 1-5) and adults alike. Of course, there was a “kids table”, but this kids table included a coloring-book Haggadah, finger puppets for the plagues, and even a hands-on “red river” pool with frogs swimming in it—all recounting the story of the Israelites escape from slavery to freedom. The adults (two different families, one each night) enjoyed delicious food (brisket, charoset—with expertly peeled apples!, kugel, and matzah ball soup) and sang the songs, much to the shock and delight of their young’en. Needless to say, by the time the afikoman was found and the prizes delivered, we were exhausted. If you have any energy left from your Passover and Easter celebrations (we hope they were fun, too!), you can check out our new album, now posted in the Photo Gallery.
