Back to School

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015

At the end of August, Avi headed back to school with a grand send off as he embarked upon his First Grade journey. His siblings, as always, were supportive. We captured the moment in a very small album now in the photo gallery.

Ayla Turns One Year Old!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2015

You blink an eye and –BAM!– just like that, a year passes by. That’s how we felt when we woke up one morning and our little baby Ayla was one year old. So, we celebrated for a week: with a little family party, a photoshoot, and a larger party that wasn’t much larger. Undoubtedly, the BEST part of the week was that Mimi and Zayda SURPRISED US with a visit! They casually strolled up and knocked on our door on Friday (just like they did during Joel’s first weekend at Brown—but this time it was cool!). It was wonderful to have them here all weekend to celebrate with us and they helped us power through a cold that Ayla was having a tough time shaking (which kept away some of the other would-be partiers).

Because this was our last one-year-old party week, we have for you a bunch of pictures and FOUR short videos, all in a brand new photo album that is now posted to the Photo Gallery.

“Take the picture already so I can go back to eating my cupcake!” (guess who is thinking this)

She 11 months… and mobile!

Sunday, April 19th, 2015

Ayla turned 11 months old in March and promptly started crawling. We document both in her 11 month photoshoot, now in the Photo Gallery. She also sings, dances, and recites Homer’s Odyssey from memory in the original tongue, but we have not captured any of that on film just yet, sorry.

Here comes…

Ayla Becomes a Tween (in Months)

Sunday, March 15th, 2015

We have been preparing for our daughter to become a “tween” and that time has arrived: Ayla is ten months old. The “tween” period has not yet been so challenging (knock on wood) and Ayla was a great sport for her 10 month photoshoot, shot exclusively by an elite photographer (whom we call “mom”). We hope you enjoy the 18 photos and one short video in the new album now posted in the Photo Gallery.

That’s right, kiddos. DOUBLE DIGITS. Boom!

Being a Model is HARD

Sunday, February 8th, 2015

For those of you who have never tried it, being a model is HARD and sometimes you just are not in the mood. Such was Ayla’s state of mind on the morning of her nine month photoshoot. On the bright side, Mimi was here and she makes a cameo in this photoshoot, and we also supplemented the album with a shot from Superbowl Sunday. As you surely know by now, our Pats pulled out an incredible victory in Superbowl XLIX in honor of Ayla’s Nine Month Photoshoot (and Avi and Ezra’s birthdays).

In any case, because MODELING IS HARD, we have nine pictures to present for Ayla’s Nine Month Photoshoot, now in the Photo Gallery.

All I want for my nine month birthday (approximately) is a Superbowl victory!

Birthday Party 2015 with Jungle Jim

Sunday, February 1st, 2015

We celebrated the boys’ birthdays this weekend with another Holly Grossman extravaganza. The boys (Avi turning six and Ezra turning four) requested a “Wild Kratts” theme (Wild Kratts is an animated show on PBS featuring brothers who use “animal powers” to ward off bad guys). Holly enlisted the help of Jungle Jim and transformed our house into a wild jungle, and turning the kids into veritable Crocodile Dundees. As the icing on the cake (pun intended!), Mimi is visiting us from Boston (or maybe she’s just here to escape the snow?)!

Share in the excitement—we just put an album with 37 photos and 4 videos in the photo gallery. It’s worth the effort—there’s an “instant classic” Mimi video in there… Enjoy!

Eight Month Old Ayla

Wednesday, January 21st, 2015

Yes, we’re cutting it close—Ayla turns nine months old in just a few days—but before that happens, we’re proud to present her EIGHT month photoshoot. Fear not: these pictures were taken way back when she was just turning eight months old and we just took way too long to post them as we were busy locking down this website to protect it from possible North Korean hackers.

Back to the topic at hand: Ayla is making great strides (figuratively, not literally—she’s not yet crawling, which is a big win for mom and dad, who already have two little monkeys to chase around the house). Ayla waves, cries for daddy (because he’s awesome!), and occasionally will perform her elephant noise (though she seems to resent being asked to do it on cue). None of those are pictured in this eight month photoshoot photo album now posted in the photo gallery, so you’ll have to come visit us to see!

Seven Month Photoshoot

Thursday, December 4th, 2014

We thought that it would be cool have exactly seven pictures in Ayla’s seven month photoshoot. We spent hours and hours pouring over every detail and diligently pruning them down to pick the best seven. We almost made it.

We present the 18 photos of Alya’s Seven Month Photoshoot, now in the Photo Gallery.

Seven months and I’m goin’ places!

Supergirl!

Thursday, November 13th, 2014

Apparently, we forgot to include one wardrobe in yesterday’s album. That album has now been updated with five new pictures (front-loaded, so you don’t have to go through the entire album to see them), still in the photo gallery.

It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s a the outfit that Daddy forgot to include yesterday!

Ayla turned six months old around Halloween, so she insisted on doing the photoshoot in costume

Wednesday, November 12th, 2014

Ayla’s six month birthday fell around the end of the October and GFW was well into Halloween mode at that time. Caught up in all of the excitement, Ayla insisted that we shoot her 6 month birthday shots in costume—and she had a few different ones ready (we’re not exactly sure how or why). Somehow, she even cajoled her older brothers into dressing up, as well. Album is now in the Photo Gallery!

Not sure if I’m more excited about being Batgirl or turning 6 months old. Let’s agree that it’s a win-win!
